Opened in 2007, Tukul Village is located just a 10-15 minute walk downhill from most of the major rock-hewn churches. The village consists of twelve red sandstone Tukul huts, each topped with a thatched roof and split into two storeys, offering a total of 24 en-suite rooms. The hotel is well-known for its distinctive architecture, which replicates the traditional two-storey tukuls unique to Lalibela (see images below). In fact, many of our previous guests refer to it as “Too Cool Village!” Our philosophy is to provide the best service within the twelve tukuls and 24 rooms we offer today. We prioritize quality and strive to deliver the utmost attention to detail. We don’t believe in building as many rooms as possible or filling them with as many tourists as possible. Instead, we believe that a good reputation is our greatest asset
